Welcome to My Substack
Here Am I, Send Me
Who I Am and Why I’m Here
My name is Jonathan Franzone, and if you’ve found yourself here, you’re likely someone who desires to live a fully Christian life—one where Christ’s lordship extends into every area of thought and action. That’s precisely why I started this Substack: to explore how we, as Christians, can reform our lives, families, and culture to glorify God in all things.
My journey of faith has been a long and winding road (queue Beatles song 🎶). If you’re curious about that story, I’ve shared it here. Though, I might phrase some of the particulars a bit differently now. My theology has been refined since I wrote that testimony.
Over the years, my understanding of the faith has been profoundly shaped by Reformed theology, particularly the doctrines of grace and the dominion mandate. I’ve written extensively about these themes on my blog, which you can explore here. I believe Christ is not just King over our personal lives but over all of history, culture, and the institutions of man—including politics, education, and family.
Speaking of family, I am blessed beyond measure. My wife, Aubrey, and I have been married for nearly three decades, and God has given us eight children—five of whom are adopted. Adoption has been a sanctifying journey for us, revealing both the beauty and brokenness in this fallen world. I’ve shared some of that journey here, and it remains one of the most tangible ways we’ve seen the gospel at work in our lives.
A Calling to Shepherd and Teach
In December 2023, I graduated from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary (SBTS), and soon after, I began a pastoral internship at Providence Church in Pensacola. This season of life has been both humbling and exhilarating as I prepare for ordination within the Communion of Reformed Evangelical Churches (CREC). I see my calling not merely as a teacher of doctrine but as a shepherd—one who equips the saints for the work of ministry and calls them to apply their faith in every sphere of life.
Why This Substack?
So, why start a Substack? Because I believe words matter. Ideas shape history. And as Christians, we must be deliberate about reforming every aspect of our lives to conform to Scripture. I want this space to be a place where I share theological insights, cultural critiques, and practical wisdom for living a robustly Christian life. My goal is to provide encouragement, challenge prevailing assumptions, and help you see how every moment—whether in the home, workplace, or church—is an opportunity for dominion.
Plus, all the cool pastors are doing it! 😎
I’ll be writing on:
Theology & Reformation – Exploring how Reformed theology applies to all of life.
Family & Discipleship – Practical guidance on raising children, homeschooling, and strengthening the family.
Church & Culture – Analyzing the world through the lens of Christ’s Kingship.
Personal Growth & Calling – Encouragement to live with excellence and purpose.
